The roof system is applied to the roof deck the first layer is a bituminous based primer laid with a re enforcement scrim which is laid and allowed to dry. then a elastermeric modified bitumen is laid at a monitored temperature to the roof area inclusive of up-stands. A root barrier membrane is applied using the roll and pour technique with 200mm up-stands minimum. The roof is then laid with a polystyrene insulation board in this install a 150mm board was used. The roof is then laid in cross formation.
A waterfall reducing sheathing building paper is laid over the boards prior to installing the paving support system which house the slabs. Around the perimeter of the roof a big stoned shingle is laid .
This roof was a balcony roof on a new build development 84 square metres. the top roofs were laid in a felt roofing system high performance torched system. The clients required a twenty year guarantee underwritten for the material and the labour and was installed by ourselves as a licensed installer for Norde bitumi Hot melt roofing systems, these systems are the same as Hydrotech, Iko, alumas.
